*Genuine European Portraits Review and Spotlight

Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and I know of the perfect gift to give to your Mom! This is a gift that will show how much you care by capturing a moment in time, and preserving it forever.  Since 1997, Genuine European Portraits have been drawing portraits that are absolutely breath taking works of art.

It begins with a team of highly skilled artists in Barcelona. You simply submit a photo and the magic takes place in the studio. Your photo will be hand drawn and brought to life! The attention to detail that Genuine EuropeanPortraits has to offer makes this company distinctive. After your portrait is completed it will be framed, and delivered to your door, ready to hang and admire!

You can submit several photos of different people to have an amazing portrait drawn. This is a great idea for creating a family portrait, capturing your pets together, or creating a unique and memorable gift for someone you love.

As a Mother, I can tell you that, any token of affection is appreciated in honor of Mother’s Day. However, if you give your Mom a true work of art, such as a Genuine European Portrait, you will leave her speechless! A gift such as this speaks volumes to the heart, as a moment in time has been frozen just for Mom.

I recently had the pleasure of submitting a photo of my son, Rolf, to Genuine European Portraits. I was unsure of what to expect.  I had no idea that the portrait would be so life like and beautiful. When I opened the package, it took my breath away. My son Rolf is almost 2. I feel that this portrait has preserved a moment in time that I will cherish for the rest of my days.
                                                                     My son Rolf

The portrait the artists at Genuine European Portraits created of my son captures the essence of Rolf. From the mischief that is present in his little smile to the twinkle in his eye, this portrait has it all. To be honest, I must say the portrait is exquisite and makes the photo I submitted pale in comparison!

I would be pleased to encourage my readers to order a Genuine European Portrait of their own, or to give as a very special gift. This is not only an investment, but it is a true work of art that will draw attention from everyone who catches a glimpse of it!

The Boys Love Smart Bones

We have never allowed our dogs to have rawhide treats. I admit that this is due to a lack of information on the subject. I have heard that they are dangerous, but I have also heard that rawhide treats are fine for dogs. When I was offered the chance to review Smart Bones, I was really excited because my dogs enjoy chewing on a few of their toys, and Smart Bones are a great alternative to offering a rawhide chew to your four legged friends.

Chewing is pleasurable for dogs, it is mentally stimulating, and it promotes good dental health. Chewing is a way dogs explore and learn, and it can be comforting to a dog. I don’t know about your dog, but my dog makes chewing seem downright fun! When offered a Smart Bone, both of my dogs were tail wagging happy!

I gave the boys each a Dental Smart Bone. It is made with chicken and vegetables, and they really liked them as you can see in the photos! It took a while before the dogs had devoured the treats, which was impressive.

I will buy this brand of dog chew treats in the future. I like that they are easily digested and made with vegetables and chicken. Smart Bones are fortified with vitamins and minerals, making it a great enhancement to a nutritionally balanced diet. I believe that giving the dogs a Smart Bone would be a great way to keep them busy and happy, because there are times as a pet owner that you need to keep your dog entertained.

Be sure to look for Smart Bones in Dental, Chicken and Peanut Butter flavors, in a variety of sizes. Visit the website for more information about this great treat for the dog in your life!

Do you feel lucky? Smart Bones wants to give two Sweet Silly Sara readers 1 bag of Smart Bones each! Please enter via the rafflecopter form below for your chance to win!

Lesson Learned-

My mother in law came to town for Easter. Despite my expectations I had a great time with her. I think sometimes I get upset when she comes to visit because my husband makes it such a big deal. Maybe I am selfish, immature, a rotten person, whatever, but I am human. I can admit my insecurities and frustrations without fear.

I am a stay at home Mom. My job is to raise our son, cook and clean, run errands, and so on. I do not ask for or expect very much from my husband in terms of housework. He mows the lawn, takes out the trash, cleans up after the dogs. Otherwise, I take care of it.

When his Mom comes to town, he gets crazy into cleaning. I find it insulting in a way. I struggle to maintain a sense of order, but he will take the towels out of the cabinet and refold them so they are 'more presentable' if his Mom is on her way.

He will make coffee and lunch, mix cocktails and load the dishwasher if she is here, but any other time, forget it!

It hurts my feelings, as I feel like he doesn't make any effort for me, who he lives with. When I mentioned it, he said "I want my Mom to be comfortable here, so I refolded the towels."

How lame! My dear husband, he may or may not know it, but that behavior and attitude set a terrible pace for the visit. I feel like if a towel is not folded perfectly, or if a photo frame is slightly crooked, my house is not comfortable? That sets an un-achievable standard. We have a busy, sweet and messy toddler!

Well, this time, I let him get all cleaning frenzied. I went to a friends house and leisurely enjoyed the weekend. I hid several loads of clean laundry in a closet, I made frozen shrimp for Easter dinner, and I relaxed. The less I worried, the more I enjoyed her visit. I tried to enjoy having someone else clean! What a rare treat for a housewife!

I learned a lesson. My Mother in Law did not feel 'uncomfortable' with toys scattered about, or mail on the dining room table. She was just glad to be with my family! My husband can set standards however he likes, I will embrace the treat of someone else cleaning, and I will enjoy the opportunity to have a loved one around.

Do your in laws live nearby? How does your spouse respond to visits with his or her parents?

Meet My Family

My little boy isn't feeling well, and he can't seem to sleep without Mommy at his side, so I am sitting up in bed, listening to him sleep. He reaches over to make certain I am still here every few minutes.

I don't post much about my family, I realized that the other day. Well, let me introduce you to my family!

My husband, Adam and my son Rolf

This is my Prince of a Puppy

This is Fru, my bestie! What a face! He was caught mid yawn~

                                         Maurice- our darling kitty
My hubby loves to fish :)

                                              My little darling Rolf!

Rolf is a wonderful child. He is kind, he loves to help Mommy around the house. He is sweet, he is generous and loves to share. Rolf is funny, he has a great sense of humor and  he is busy, busy, busy! My son is very bright and he is absolutely adorable. I consider myself lucky to be his mother.

It breaks my heart to see him sick. He has been coughing and sneezing, he has been grumpy and restless, and tonight he had a low fever. It seems as if this year has been rough on our immune systems. We spent the day indoors, napping and coloring. We read a few books, cuddled and in general tried to take it easy. After a busy weekend I needed a day to relax, and Rolf needed me, so I have pushed the guilt I feel when I don't accomplish much aside.

My husband, Adam, gives me a gift every day. The gift of time, to watch Rolf grow and the opportunity to stay at home with Rolf. Our family could certainly benefit from a second income, but the money is not worth all of the things I would miss.

Well folks, there you have it, my family and a little bit about us!

What remedies did you or do you use for your toddler when he or she has a cold? The pediatrician advised us not to use any OTC medicines, and to give him plenty of fluids, zinc and vitamin C, and to use a nasal aspirator and humidifier to keep Rolf comfy. I have been giving him vapor baths too. I like to use natural products and remedies when I can. I would love to hear what works to soothe your kids!
