Planning a Christmas in the Sun? Here’s How To Prepare

Yes, to some people there’s nothing better than waking up on Christmas morning and seeing a blanket of fresh snow on the ground outside. But to others, the best way to spend Christmas is to be doing the thing they love the most, and what could be better than spending another day as if it’s summertime? If you’re planning on spending December 25 in a hot vacation destination, then you’re going to need to take some steps to ensure you’re ready for all the fun that awaits you!

Hit the Gym

As soon as the temperatures begin to drop, we all get a bit lazy when it comes to our exercise routines. We think, not altogether incorrectly that it doesn’t matter if we put on a few extra pounds over the coming months because no-one’s going to see us without several layers on anyway! And there’s some truth to that, but it goes out of the window when you decide to go away for Christmas. Suddenly, you’ll be straight back into summer mode, and all the beach and pool time that goes along with it. You’ll want to make sure you look good in your outfits! And talking about which….

Spice up the Wardrobe

You might have thought that you have more time to put your summer wardrobe together, but since you’ve decided to go away during winter, you’re going to have to get to work earlier than planned! Luckily, you’ll have picked a good time to buy your warm weather clothes. Because most people are currently buying their winter clothes, you’ll find incredible deals on sundresses and other summer essentials. Pack your new purchases into your luggage, and you’ll be able to rock your vacation away in style.

Plan Special Christmas Dinner

You’re going away, but it’s still going to be Christmas! And unless you’re planning on completely avoiding the holiday (and why would you want to do that?!), you’ll need to take steps to ensure that you’re able to have a memorable Christmas even when you’re hundreds of miles away from home. Before you go, make sure that your accommodation has either the means to cook a perfect Christmas dinner or that there is a place nearby for you to eat. Just because you’re going away doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the best part of the season!

Take Care of Presents

You might be willing to sacrifice presents if it means you’re going away (that might be the give in itself), but it’s unlikely that your children are willing to go without this year. As such, you’ll need to make some plans to ensure they can still get their toys and other goodies, even if you’re away from home. You can do this in two ways: buy the presents and then take them with you, or wait until you arrive and buy them there; the latter will be much easier if you have minimal space in your suitcase.

The Beauty Essentials

Like your exercise, you might have let your beauty routines take a back seat during the cold weather. After all, there’s no point painting your toenails if you’re going to be wearing warm boots for five months! Now that you’re going away, it’s time to dig out your makeup bag and check that you have everything you need to look your best while you’re away.

Getting Sun Ready

And if you don’t go away looking your absolute best, you can at least rest assured you’ll return looking pretty fine! Or, at least you will if you have prepared your skin for the influx of sun rays that are about to come its way. Before you go, make sure your exfoliating your skin thoroughly (it’ll help you to keep your tan longer) and drinking plenty of water. Also, don’t forget to pack those suntan lotions and your favorite moisturizer.

Communication

Your extended family might have accepted that you won’t be there on Christmas Day, but they’re unlikely to accept radio silence! If you’re travelling overseas, you’ll want to check with your phone provider to make sure that you’ll have all the data you need to call and text home on the big day. Also avoid making too many plans for the 25th, so that you can call home at an appropriate time, especially if you’re going to be in a different time zone.

Spending a Christmas day in the sunshine will provide you and your family with a different festive experience this year. Prepare properly, and it’ll be one for the memory books!
