I thought about investing in nail whitener, but that can get pricey. I thought I would try something out to see if it would work to brighten my nails and give me a break from covering up the embarrassing funk with nail polish.
Ingredients
1/4 cup of very warm water
2 teaspoons of baking soda
3 teaspoons of peroxide

I mixed this up (it will bubble) and then I soaked my nails in the mixture for 1 minute per hand. I noticed that my hands were foaming up a bit from the peroxide, so I knew right away this was working its magic.
When I removed my hands from the mixture I could see right away that my nails looked better. They were whiter, they felt great too.
This cost maybe 20 cents (if that) to make for a treatment. It was much less expensive than buying a chemical based product and it seriously only took about 2 minutes to do.
If you are a smoker with cigarette stains I bet this would help to remove them too.
LOVE IT! I have funky looking toes, but thank goodness I don't have creepy looking nails on them. I will share this with my sister because she is a smoker!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome review ...Thank you so much for the tips ...This would probably work for my Mom's toe nails too!!
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't take care of my nails. I pick them down. I've been doing it since I was four, and that was 27 years ago! I've tried growing them out, but it never lasts long. I'll have to keep trying so I can set a good example for my daughter!
ReplyDeletelov it ty
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this on Turn It Up Tuesdays
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this I will have to try this on my toe nails.

I am definitely going to try this! Right now I really don't have a go to nail care routine. I could use one though and I love cheap and easy! can't wait to try!
ReplyDeleteDo you know how many bottles of nail polish I have, over 30. For some reason, I have to have nice looking nails. I paint my nails twice a week and try out different colors. I do use a good nail cream to keep them for getting dry.
ReplyDeleteI guess you could say my nails are funky. After getting chemo in 2011 it made them peely, so weird. LOL!! This is a great tip! Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteThis sounds great to try for my nails. I usually just file my nails and use a lot of lotion for dry skin.

I recently switched to using Gelish and love it so far. I have very brittle nails and this is much better for them than the pink and whites that I've had for yrs. While I'd love to have naturally great nails, I don't but these are my compromise.
ReplyDeletei dont do a lot with my nails now, but i used to use polish all of the time. my nails became yellow and ugly so i stopped painting them - i wish i had had your whitener recipe then! thanks for sharing!
