Slice, Slice, Cupcake! Michael Meyers Halloween Cupcakes to Die For (Literally)

Calling all horror fans and cupcake enthusiasts! Halloween season is upon us, and what better way to celebrate than with some chillingly delicious treats? Today, we're taking a trip to Haddonfield with a batch of cupcakes inspired by the iconic slasher film, "Halloween."

A Slice of the Night He Came Home:

These cupcakes are a delightful blend of spooky and sweet. Here's how you can bring a bit of Michael Myers' mayhem to your Halloween party:

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED:

2 cups of White Chocolate - melted

Molds for Halloween face:

Horror Movie Killer Face Silicone Molds for Keychains Michael | Etsy

Black Food Coloring Gel

FOR THE CUPCAKES:

1 1/4 cup of Flour

1 1/2 teaspoons of Baking Powder

1/2 teaspoon of Salt

1 cup of Sugar

1/2 cup of Milk

1/4 cup of Vegetable Oil

2 Tablespoons of Vanilla Silk Yogurt

1 Egg

1 Tablespoon of Vanilla

Orange Food Coloring Gel

FOR THE FROSTING:

4 ounces of Cream Cheese - softened

4 Tablespoons of Butter - softened

1 teaspoon of Vanilla

2 Tablespoons of Heavy Cream

4 - 5 cups of Powdered Sugar

HERE'S WHAT YOU DO:

Melt the White Chocolate in the Microwave, and fill the halloween Face Molds with the White Chocolate.  Place in Freezer for about 10 minutes to quickly set the Chocolate. Place 1 teaspoonful of the Black Food Coloring Gel in a small dish, and mix in 1/2 a teaspoon of the melted White Chocolate, stirring well.  Using a small Cookie Brush,  paint the outline of the halloween Face mask with the Black Food Coloring Gel/White Chocolate mixture.  Let dry for about 10 minutes. Set aside.

Make the Cupcakes:

In the mixing bowl of a stand mixer, add the Sugar, Milk, Oil, Yogurt, Egg, and Vanilla, and mix on low until blended, then mix on medium, until creamy.  In a separate bowl, place the Flour, Baking Powder, and Salt, and stir well to blend.  Add the Mixer, and blend on Low speed, until mixed, then turn up the mixer, and blend until smooth.  Scrape down the sides of the mixing bowl, and blend again until completely smooth.Add about 2 or 3 teaspoons of the orange Food Coloring Gel to the Cupcake Batter, until you have the desired color of Red.  Line a 12 count Muffin Tin with Cupcake Liners, and fill the Liners 2/3 of the way full.  Bake at 350 for 13 to 15 minutes, or until Cupcake are done, and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove from the oven to a wire rack to cool.

While Cupcakes are cooling, make the Frosting:

In the mixing bowl of a stand mixer, place the softened Cream Cheese, softened Butter, Vanilla, and Heavy Cream, and mix until smooth and creamy.  Add the Powdered Sugar about a cup at a time and blend well between additions.  Scrape down the Mixing bowl, and blend until smooth.  The Frosting should be thick and creamy.  If you need to add a little more Powdered Sugar, add about 1/4 cup at a time until you have a thick and  creamy Frosting.

When the Cupcakes are completely cool, place the Frosting in a Pastry/Piping bag with the large Star tip, and Pipe the Frosting on the Cupcakes, using a swirling motion around the cupcakes and bringing the Frosting up to a point.  Place the halloween White Chocolate Faces in the Frosting and keep refrigerated until time to serve.  Serve, and Enjoy!

NOTE:  Each Halloween Face Mold makes one Face, so you'll need to order accordingly - you can just order 1 mold, and make the Faces a couple of days ahead, and keep them in the refrigerator until time to use them.

With a little creativity, you can whip up a batch of horror movie cupcakes that are as frighteningly fun to make as they are to devour. So grab your ingredients, turn up the John Carpenter soundtrack, and get ready to bake up a storm! Happy Halloween, and remember... don't eat the last cupcake. Michael might be watching.

No Tricks Just Treats This Halloween

Halloween is so close that the kids can almost taste all of that sweet candy they hope to come home with! I knew there would be no better time than now to share some of my favorite Halloween finds from the season with you!

Everything has been out of sorts this year, from the great toilet paper shortage that might keep your house from being TP'ed this season, to the widespread sickness and too much political pressure surrounding the election. This year is the time to go all out with costumes, decorations and treats! Personally, we are going to keep the tricks at a minimum, life has been tricky enough for everyone!

Samples have been provided. Affiliate links may be used.

To kick things off, no matter how last minute it is you can count on Gourmet Gift Baskets to send a great gift to your house, or a special friend. We love the Eat, Drink and Be Scary Bucket of Beer. It has something for everyone in it. A 6 pack of seasonal brews for the adults and a variety of great goodies for the kids. I love the black cauldron style bucket the treats and sips are shipped in. Plus, you can get this at your door in like 2 days time! For under $70, which is nothing to say Boo too!

If you want to bake something wonderful with the kids to share, I highly recommend the pumpkin chocolate chip cookie mix from Lehi Mills. This mix is easy to whip up and creates a really flavorful cookie that the whole family will love. This is a perfect solution for busy families that want to make some memories on a $5 budget.

If your kids aren't going to be doing as much trick or treating this year, why not treat them to some one of a kind zombie fun that will keep going long after Halloween has ended with World of Zombies. Not only are they fun loving toys, but they also have webisodes that kids will love. These are perfectly creepy yet friendly enough for kids of all ages to enjoy. Check out the toys and the show on the World of Zombies site.

This year, the costumes need to steal the show! Kids have already sacrificed so much this year, that we can't ask them to skip an epic costume! The Ultimate Party Super Store has some incredible option like this Hungry Howler Wolf-man costume for tweens. Retailing at under $30 this is an awesome and toasty costume for kids.

The Ultimate Party Superstore has a ton of options for kids of all interests and age levels. My daughter loves this Justice League Superman costume for girls. I love that they include the girls in the superhero fun! Get this one for under $42.

Gamer girls will delight in the Princess Peach costume. It is so cute for smaller girls and is super affordable at about $25. If you order now you can get the best costumes delivered to your door in time for Halloween!

My kids are both learning from home this year, so I am always looking for ways to sneak a little education into the day when they least expect it. (Hello Xtra Math App...) to keep things interesting and engaging, The Gross Anatomy set from Thames and Kosmos makes learning about the human body a squishy and squealy fun event! Order this fun set for $20.

Aaron's Thinking Putty is the best way to spread glow in the dark fun this year on a budget. For $3 you can get a can of really engaging can of mini thinking putty. This is a great treat to share with kids of all ages.  My kids are big Ghost Busters fans, so the Ectoplasm thinking putty was right up their alley!

DIY Pallet Halloween Tree

I have developed a serious affection for pallet projects. I love how many ways you can re-purpose them! I came up with this easy DIY Pallet Halloween Tree using materials I had a home.

This is such an easy last minute DIY project to add a little creepy decor to your or yard. You can use the things you have around the house to come up with something creep-tastic! I am already planning ahead to next year and how I will make this cuter with clearance Halloween goodies!

Supplies used:

A few pallet boards

A hand saw and or a circular saw

E6000 glue

Halloween ribbon

Halloween trinkets

Black paint

Directions:

Saw down your pallet boards so that you can form a tree shape. I used a 1", 3",  6",  8",  10" boards and a 18" board for the back.

Paint your boards black, allow to dry.

Glue your short boards to the longest board, black side out.

Place something heavy or use a vice to secure the boards to the wood and allow to cure and dry.

Now, you can start decorating!

I glued Halloween ribbon to the tree and then placed the "ornaments". I used bugs, spiders and creepy eyes as decorations.

Allow to dry again and place it in the yard or in the house.

DIY Pumpkin Window Cling

We love to decorate for holidays and Halloween is no exception. This DIY idea makes fun window clings with simple ingredients for a one of a kind look this season!

The kids are excited about Halloween this year! As soon as they saw Halloween decor popping up in stores, they were ready to buy something! Seeing how cute they are, I couldn't deny them their wish. But, I did draw the line at 2 items. We placed a cute ghost on our door in mid-August...

Luckily, the fun of Halloween is still going strong here! The kids and I made some adorable window clings that I can't wait to share with you guys! Today we will go over how we made these cute and easy Pumpkin Window Clings!

Supplies

Transparent Contact Paper
Scissors
Black, Orange and Green Construction Paper

Have the kids tear the orange paper into little strips and bits.

Then cut the pumpkins face out of the black paper. Tear whatever black remains into small bits and strips.

Peel the backing off of your contact paper and lay it sticky side up.

Place the face of the pumpkin on the sticky side of the paper.

Next outline the shape of your pumpkin in orange.

Then fill the outline in with orange paper.

Next tear one small bit of green paper for a stem and add it to the top of the pumpkin. Begin to fill in the rest of the area with black paper.

Then you can stick this right to your window. The little areas that aren't covered with paper will adhere to the window, but not so much that it makes peeling it off a bother. You can reinforce the edges with tape if you need to or desire.

And there you have a really easy, fun and cheap way to make a window cling! My kids had a lot of fun with this idea and I think yours will too!
